Sideways scans and phone photos that only *look* rotated in Preview are a classic trap — many tools just set an orientation flag that other software ignores. rot90 rotates the actual pixels 90° clockwise, so the file is upright everywhere, and image metadata is preserved.

On a PDF it rotates every page via the PDF's own page-rotation — text stays vector and selectable. Companions: rot180 for upside-down files, rot270 for counterclockwise.
