The dated command.

Prefix the file's real date (YYYY-MM-DD) from EXIF, PDF, or creation date.

scan.pdfscan.dated.pdf

Works on: Images, PDF, video, and more · The command disappears once the job is done · Original backed up first

Files sort by name, and names rarely carry dates — so archives turn into soup. dated reads the truest date the file knows (EXIF capture date for photos, document date for PDFs, creation date otherwise) and prefixes it ISO-style: 2026-03-14 scan.pdf. Suddenly Finder sorts your paperwork chronologically.

It's the librarian command: run it on a folder of scans, receipts, or exports and the timeline assembles itself.
